Movie Madness!!

J decided to start his day at 6:00 today. I am trying to lull him back to sleep. He loves staring at the computer screen, so it seemed like a good time to do this particular meme. (I should add that my camera is still low on batteries, and that is why I am not taking the opportunity to upload more pictures of J.) So here is the meme that many of my friends are now doing:

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies and choose one still from each movie.
2. Post those stills in your journal.
3. Have your friends guess which movie goes along with each screen still.

Here are mine:

1. What's Eating Gilbert Grape (Nezbitt)

2. What's Up Doc? (Nobody got it!)

Edited September 22, 2005 @ 5:57 p.m. to say:

At the request of the lovely and talented Miss Dottie P., here is a better picture of the wonderful redheaded actress in movie #2:

I hope that helps.

End of edit.

3. From the Hip (Dottie P.)

4. If Lucy Fell (morgoid)

5. Better Off Dead (morgoid)

6. Life is Beautiful (Dottie P.)

7. When Harry Met Sally (Dottie P.)

8. The Usual Suspects (Nezbitt)

9. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (theatre_mommy)

10. Benny & Joon (Dottie P.)

11. Kiss Me Kate (va1kyrie)

12. Ruthless People (theatre_mommy)

13. Malice (theatre_mommy)

14. Philadelphia (Dottie P.)

15. Arsenic & Old Lace (va1kyrie)

They're probably all really easy. And if HD plays, she'll get them all immediately, I'm sure. But there we go anyway.

Anyone care to hazard their guesses?

Hazard warning!

'Cause I'm hazarding my guesses!

Narf, narf.

1. Juliette Lewis in a Hay Field with Some Guy
2. Guys with Ties
3. St. Elmo's Fire
4. The Man who Drank Coffee in the Cold
5. Is that a singing hamburger?
6.Life is Beautiful (good choice, btw)
7. When Harry Met Sally
8. Brooding Young Men
9. Shakespeare in Love (this is probably wrong)
10. Benny and Joon!
11. Happy Flingy Dancer People (is that Cyd Charisse?)
12. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
13. Nicole Kidman in: I Can Look as Brooding as those Boys in #8
14. Philadelphia
15. North by Northwest? Totally gussing, here.

You got 6, 7, 10 and 14!

As for #5 - Yes, that is a singing hamburger. And for #11 - Actually, no, it isn't Cyd Charisse, but that was pretty close.

Yeehaw!

I'll add
9. Rozencrantz & Guildenstern
12. Ruthless People.

Momma Trish said...

Yup. And yup.

Nezbitt said...

o.k. These are the only ones I might have a clue about, that I don't think anyone else already got.

1. What's eating Gilbert Grape?
5. something to do with the Cailfornia Rasins?
8. The Usual Suspects (Great flick!)
13. Days of Thunder??
15. It's a Wonderful Life

Momma Trish said...

1 and 8 are right. You go!

No, #5 has nothing to do with the California Raisins. It is a fairly well-known movie, but it is an unusual and fairly insignificant scene. I just couldn't find a decent still from it, so had to go with the silly dancing hamburger bit.

11. Kiss Me Kate
15. Arsenic and Old Lace

Stabs in the dark:

4. If Lucy Fell
5. Better Off Dead (I KNOW John Cusak was in it)

Momma Trish said...

va1kyrie - you are correct.

morgoid - you are also correct!

Momma Trish said...

So...only 2, 3 and 13 to go then!

And 3 isn't St Elmo's Fire?
Is 13 Malice?

I can't believe I missed 8 - Usual Suspects is on my favourite list too *sigh* :)

Momma Trish said...

Yes, 13 is Malice.

3 is not St. Elmo's Fire. Right actor; right era; wrong movie.

We are still missing #2 and #3. Sadly, I haven't seen HD responding to this one - she'd know both of these right off the bat; that's the benefit of knowing someone for 20 years.

So I'll give hints now.

#2 - Take a look at the bedraggled redhead on the far left of the picture. Do you recognize her? She is an extremely famous (now sadly deceased) actress. This is her very first film.

#3 - This isn't the best picture, but it was the only one I could find. It is not a brat pack movie, and it didn't receive a lot of acclaim. The movie synopsis uses the tagline "disorder in the courtroom". Much of the movie takes place in court, and the film features an admissibility hearing on the word "a**hole".

Hopefully this will help. If not, I'll just tell everyone what the last two movies are. (Apparently, they are more obscure than I had thought.)

#3
FROM THE HIP

Kapow!

Okay, I kinda cheated. I looked it up on the interweb.

And I totally thought of "Kiss Me Kate" for #11! Dang1

Momma Trish said...

Well, I kind of expected someone would look it up! Correct, of course. I'm glad you thought of "Kiss Me Kate"; I was thinking perhaps no onre had seen it.

Okay, so that just leaves #2. Anyone recognize that actress yet?

Can we have a better picture of her? She's all fuzzy.

Momma Trish said...

You're right; she is pretty fuzzy. I've added a better picture of her.

Momma Trish said...

I should add that it's her very first full-length and not made-for-TV film!
